Terms and Conditions - STEP Up 2 A GREEN START UP:

Please read the Step Up 2 a Green Start Up booklet carefully before completing your entry.

Phase 1 of the competition is designed to challenge you to find an environmental problem in your community that can be solved by developing a product or providing a service. This is your BIG GREEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP IDEA. Once you have an idea, think about how technology can be used to make your product or service better, more more efficient, accessible and cost effective.

This competition is only open to learners in grade 10, 11 or 12 who have watched the 2022 STEP UP 2 A GREEN
START UP movie.

Entries must be in teams, having a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 members from the same school.
No individual entries will be accepted.

The TEAM NAME must appear on all pages of your entry.

Past winners (defined as anyone who has attended boot camp in a past year) CANNOT ENTER in any team in
this competition. Teams with entrants who are past winners will be disqualified.

No late entries will be accepted under any circumstances.

PHASE 1 of the competition closes on FRIDAY 24 JUNE 2022

All PHASE 1 entries will be evaluated and ONLY learners whose entries qualify will be contacted and requested
to complete/submit PHASE 2 of the competition.

Entrants will be notified if they have qualified for PHASE 2 (for either competition) in the week
19 – 22 JULY 2022.

PHASE 2 entries must be submitted by no later than FRIDAY 12 AUGUST 2022.

ALL QUESTIONS FOR PHASE 2 ENTRIES MUST BE TYPED, EXCEPT FOR DRAWINGS AND THE BUSINESS
MODEL CANVAS.

Entries may be submitted in ONE of the following ways:

MMS / WhatsApp (PHASE 1 ENTRIES ONLY): A clear picture of the entry can be sent via MMS or WhatsApp to:

this number).

Please only send entries once. All team members do NOT have to send in your entry.

All questions must be completed. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.

Entries will be evaluated by an independent judging panel and the judge’s decision will be final.

Prizes / bursaries may be subjected to pre-qualification criteria.

Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Entrants give consent to having their details published in the media and give consent for organisers to publish
their name and photographs in any advertising, promotional, print, or public relations material.

PHASE 2 finalists will be notified telephonically and in writing from MONDAY 5 SEPTEMBER 2022.

Finalists must be able to travel from FRIDAY 30 SEPTEMBER to TUESDAY 4 OCTOBER 2022.

Finalists must have a valid ID document or birth certificate.

Plagiarized entries will be disqualified.

Entries are subject to verification and if found to be false, will be disqualified from the competition and any
prizes withdrawn.

Family of the bursars, sponsors or project coordinators may not enter the competition.
